The doctor I had was fab explained everything to me.
This is great news, perhaps you would so kind as to add this comment direct to the GP's blog?
Since they introduced the new appointment system you have to wait considerably longer to get an appointment to see the doctor of your choice. When you get your appointment the doctors are usually very good. Some of them have specialisms and it would be good if the surgery made this better known. It is annoying to wait 3 weeks for an appointment only to be told to make an appointment with another doctor (and wait another 3 weeks). This wouldn't happen if it were an emergency, of course, but is still annoying as you had clearly come to the surgery because you had a condition that was causing you problems.
We are sorry that you have been encountering some difficulty in getting to see the GP of your choice. There are two GPs in particular who are particularly popular and become overbooked very quickly. With opening our books six weeks in advance this is creating a problem in itself and we are having difficulty in trying to tackle this. We would welcome any ideas? With regards to specialities, these are mentioned in the patient booklet and on our website, but we will endeavour to advertise this in a new way. If you are ringing in for an appointment for one particular reason it is always advisable to mention the problem to the Receptionist and she would then put you in with the most appropriate clinician, which would hopefully not waste your time?
I booked a blood test about two weeks before and found the receptionists extremely courteous and helpful. I managed to book the day and time I requested without any fuss or bother.
On the day of the blood test (yesterday) I arrived about ten minutes early only to be seen straight away by Nikki. I was only with her for about five minutes but Nikki is always helpful, considerate and professional. The blood was taken without any pain or discomfort and I am only glad that the decision to have blood taken in the surgery for all patients has been made.
We are extremely proud of the service Nikki gives to her patients and this lovely comment only enhances our thoughts. Many thanks for taking the time to write it. We have been having a few problems with providing the service for all patients due to the high numbers, but we are working on this. Apologies to any patient who has been affected.
I can't fault the staff or doctor for their care during my visit to the surgery. I was offered a glass of water which was very much appreciated. Thank you all. An excellent team.
